Promo-project

Over the lockdown in November 2020, I put out a call for composers to send me their unrecorded works for solo voice. I was particularly interested in hearing from those who are underrepresented in our industry, who have few recordings available of their work, and who have faced barriers in getting their music recorded professionally.

Why? Because a composer’s promo recordings are vital to us - performers - when we are choosing repertoire. I have spent some time this year trying to diversify my repertoire, and repeatedly come up against the problem that a composer’s work is unrecorded. This seems to be even more of a problem for those from under-represented backgrounds.

This project is the seedling of a solution to that problem. I am now trying to raise funds for its expansion - watch this space.
